IFAT: networking event and knowledge hub
Thousands of visitors from all over the world are ready to learn about the latest trends and technologies in the field of environmental technologies and water, sewage, waste and raw materials management at IFAT 2024, which will be held in the Munich exhibition halls.
This event seems to become more and more appreciated year after year: the last edition occupied 260,000 m2 of exhibition space and recorded the presence of 2,984 expositors and 119,000 visitors and an even greater participation is expected, especially from international visitors.
The key themes of this edition of the fair are:
- Climate resilience: the consequences of climate change can no longer be ignored and technologies are needed for optimal management of rainwater, drinking water, service water, process water and wastewater, as well as for waste management that reduces the consumption of resources and of raw materials.
- Digitalization in water management: to reduce losses and waste, to make water treatment and distribution processes more efficient and to provide a quicker and more effective response to emergencies and critical situations linked to the water crisis, the Digital real-time water monitoring technologies are very important. Their use goes hand in hand with the adoption of measures to ensure IT security and data protection.

- Solutions for the reuse of urban wastewater or rainwater and for the supply of drinking water through seawater desalination.
- Methods to make sewage transport and treatment more sustainable and to address problems related to sewage sludge management.
- Energy efficiency of wastewater treatment plants and use of biogas generated from sewage sludge for the production of heat and electricity.
- Investments and effective measures for the management of water infrastructure and the protection of coasts and port cities.
- IoT and automation technologies in smart cities for waste management and disposal.

After the success of the 2022 edition, ISOIL Industria renews its presence at IFAT.
